Originally created between 1764-1767, this particular edition of the print reveals an interesting modification made by Bonnet himself. The bed sheet discreetly lies across the woman's thigh, adding a touch of modesty compared to an earlier version displayed nearby. In that earlier version, printed in red ink, the woman's pose was less reserved. The technique employed in this artwork is known as chalk manner etching and engraving.
