Six hundred Polish women have arrived in this country after having escaped from Poland to

Six hundred Polish women have arrived in this country after having escaped from Poland to join the WaF. The Womens Auxiliary Air Force. Mothers and daughters together are all keen to serve in this country. Many have harrowing tales to tell and many have fathers and husbands to end in this country or serving with the Polish Forces. One Polish air-man came to this seaside resort on the off chance and was reunited with his wife and daughter when he had not seen since he left Poland when it was over run by the Germans. Many of them have to be taught Polish and some also to read and write, although they can speak the language. Few can speak English.

EDITORS COMMENTS
This print captures a significant moment in history, showcasing the resilience and determination of six hundred Polish women who escaped their war-torn homeland to join the Women's Auxiliary Air Force (WAAF). Mothers and daughters stand side by side, united in their eagerness to serve this country. Each woman carries with her harrowing tales of survival, having left behind fathers and husbands either lost or fighting alongside the Polish Forces. In a heartwarming twist of fate, one Polish airman took a chance trip to this seaside resort and was joyously reunited with his wife and daughter whom he hadn't seen since fleeing Poland when it fell under German occupation. The strength of these women is further highlighted as they diligently learn Polish language skills, some even mastering reading and writing for the first time. Although few can speak English fluently, their dedication to serving shines through. The camaraderie among these brave women is palpable as they march together in uniformed precision. This image serves as a testament not only to their individual bravery but also to the collective spirit that binds them as a team.
