The first time in 1000 years history of the town, Windsor is to have a woman Mayor, Miss F Carteret Carey, OBE, the widow of Major-General Carteret Carey, who was governor of the military Knights of Windsor. 20 years. Mrs Carteret Carey is the only woman town councillor and a served on Windsor Council since 1925.
She is known to members of the Royal family and is always a guest at dinner when the court is in readiness at Windsor.
